Biography
Parth is a dance practitioner, actively involved in performing, choreographing, designing dance modules/experiences and facilitating movement technique sessions. In his work he is interested in intersections of body, performance, and community. He has a keen focus towards arts education, community arts and seeks to finding ways towards development of an umbrella project that brings experiential learning through body, dance, performances and different artistic traditions into classroom and community.
Parth has trained extensively through his association with Attakkalari Centre for Movement (both as a student of the diploma in movement arts and mixed media and a senior repertory member of Attakkalari Dance Company), Rang Parivartan theatre & Duende School of performing arts. He has been a senior member of the acclaimed Attakkalari Dance Repertory and performed with the company’s production at prestigious international platforms like Europalia, The New Prague festival, Tari (Kuala Lumpur, The Guangzhou festival, to name a few. He currently works with Citizens of Stage, a collective of independent dancers. He has worked along mentors/choreographers such as Jayachandran Palazhy, Kenan Dinkleman, Richard Siegel, Wayne McGregor, Samir Akika, Yola Yulifianti, Nicole Sieler, John Britto, Vikram Sridhar, Neeraj Kabi, Foofwa Imombilite, Jose Agudo.
Parth was awarded the runners up award and the prestigious Prakriti in Excellence Contemporary Dance Awards 2022 for his solo titles ‘Unsaid’ & Jury Special Mention Award for his piece 'Urban Chaos' at the Prakriti excellence in contemporary dance awards 2017. Parth has presented his work at prestigious festivals like 'Festival de quartiers (Montreal), Dance Bridges (Kolkata), The New Park festival, The odd step (Sri Ram Centre). His piece 'Neck of the woods' was virtually showcased for the Virtual Sphere Dance festival.
